Introducing Protect the Destination: A partnership between Airstream Adventures and the National Forest Foundation to make our forests more resilient.
Protecting the Destination
Airstream Adventures has partnered with the National Forest Foundation, joining with the commitment to Protect the Destination in celebration of our 11th anniversary by planting 120,001 trees. These newly planted trees will offset an estimated 5 years of our Guest's carbon footprint while they enjoy their Airstream.
Since its inception, our Airstream dealer group has valued conservation and worked to provide our Guests inspiration and freedom to explore new lands. Through the partnership with the NFF, we will plant carbon-offsetting trees for every purchase of a new or used Airstream from one of our five Airstream Adventures dealerships over the next 12 months.
Forests span 193 million acres and sustain more than 3,000 species of wildlife. By sponsoring the planting of new seedlings in National Forests, Airstream Adventures is helping improve air and water quality, increase recreation opportunities, and lessen the effect of climate change by making our forests more resilient.
The 120,001 trees our Team Members will help plant will collectively absorb about 60,000 tons of carbon emissions from the atmosphere over the course of their lifetime.
Join Airstreamers everywhere to help restore our Nation’s Forests. Purchase carbon reduction kits, neutralize your carbon impact, and make the world a more beautiful place to travel.
1 Rivet Carbon Reduction Kit: $50
Help plant 50 trees in our National Forests to sequester an estimated 25 tons of carbon, offsetting about 62,000 miles of driving.
3 Rivet Carbon Reduction Kit: $100
Help plant 100 trees in our National Forests to sequester an estimated 50 tons of carbon, offsetting about 124,000 miles of driving.
5 Rivet Carbon Reduction Kit: $500
Help plant 500 trees in our National Forests to sequester an estimated 250 tons of carbon, offsetting about 620,000 miles of driving.
Carbon sequestration is facilitated through the National Forest Foundation’s (NFF’s) existing tree planting program. NFF has committed to use best efforts, along with the United States Forest Service to complete tree planting within twelve (12) months of receipt of funds; carbon sequestration estimates through tree planting are calculated using the value of .5 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) sequestered per tree over its estimated lifetime of 100 years. The estimated 120,001 trees required to sequester the targeted carbon was calculated using Airstream sales forecasts for 2021, findings from an internal customer usage study, greenhouse gas equivalency calculators developed by the Environmental Protection Agency, Bureau of Transportation Statistics fuel efficiency estimates for gasoline-powered vehicles, publicly reported estimates from Mercedes-Benz, an Airstream aerodynamics study, and tree carbon sequestration estimates from the United States Department of Agriculture.
